To the students, teachers and friends of SMK St. Mary,

I am  honoured to be St. Mary’s Secondary School principal. It’s a great calling to teach young people. St. Mary’s Secondary School has been established more than a century and thus has a rich cultural heritage and ethos – thanks to the dedicated founders and devoted past principals whose labour of love has made St. Mary’s what it is today. I will build upon the foundation that my predecessors have laid.Teaching and learning are the core activities of a school and we should make good use of every minute of invaluable instruction time on enhancing students’ learning. I always support teachers on their professional development and teaching. I believe great teachers are the most important ingredient to the success of our school. If we have great teachers in the classrooms, then we do not have to worry much about the students. Schooling is for students hence students’ benefit is to be the first priority. The school will focus on promoting a high level of learning culture. Resources will be allocated to furnishing an inviting place and environment for learning. You may expect changes in the future which I believe to be the sources of momentum for improvement. In the last decade, technological innovations are reshaping the way we live and work at such an alarming rate, that the only constant is change itself. I am glad the school is equipped with sufficient ICT infrastructure and facilities to enable the school to embark on our greater journey to leverage technology for teaching and learning in a wider scope to enable networked and connected learning. I believe in enriching and transforming the learning experiences of our students with ICT. My aim is simple. It is to equip our students with the critical competencies and dispositions to succeed in a knowledge economy. I hope St. Marians can develop self-directed and collaborative learning through the effective use of ICT, as well as become discerning and responsible ICT users.

With whatever possible means, we want to bring the best out of every St. Marian through a student-centric and value-driven education. May God bless our endeavours.

 Your principal,
Ms. Chee P.K.
